The Overtoun Bridge was constructed in 1895, and at least one canine jumps off the bridge every single year.

There is a belief that these dogs leap to their deaths after sensing a negative spirit, while others claim that the bridge is a wall between different realms.

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds once investigated what could be causing the dogs to do this, and they discovered that particularly smelly mink trails were the cause.
